Endodontic Root Canal Irrigant
Composition:
-
Sodium hypochlorite (5.25% active chlorine)
-
Purified water compliant with Ph. Eur.
Intended Use
CHLORAXID 5.25% is used for root canal irrigation to:
-
Remove dead pulp residues during mechanical canal preparation
-
Clean the canal and remove the smear layer, exposing dentin root canal orifices prior to final filling
Contraindications
-
Do not use in patients hypersensitive to sodium hypochlorite
-
Avoid use immediately before/after flushing with citric acid or EDTA, as these neutralize sodium hypochlorite
-
Avoid use immediately before/after chlorhexidine digluconate, as this forms a brown precipitate
-
Always flush canals with purified water alternately with other irrigants
Warnings and Precautions
-
Avoid excessive fluid pressure to prevent periapical tissue damage, which can cause pain, inflammation, or swelling
-
Take special care when applied into perforations; sodium hypochlorite may weaken root dentin
-
Endodontic treatment may involve temporary postoperative pain
-
Cytotoxic potential; irritating to oral mucosa, eyes, and skin
